Many different kinds of beautiful roses. We found one that were yellow and red that were beautiful. We also relaxed in the shade on a blanket. It is a cool spot to hang out. Pick Wich roses you like best.

Beginning around the end of March or beginning of April, the Rose Gardens across from Santa Barbara's Mission begin to show signs of life. For over 50 years, this has always been a sign of Spring to me and by May, it is truly magical to watch them grow. I know nothing of flowers of any kind but this transcends all of that. I can't pretend to know how many different breeds there are, but there are all different kinds of growing for almost the length of a football field and by the end of August, there are some that are even taller than me and I'm almost 6 ft tall! The colors range from blood red, an almost ultra violet purple, white to yellow and peach with reddish tips. Families, kite flyers, picnickers and tourists all enjoy the grassy knolls while across the street, the mission hosts its annual chalk festival, tours in flamingo dancers during fiesta.

Wonderful selection of roses both appealing to the eyes and the nose. The variety was spectacular and the grounds were well manicured.

The Mission Rose Garden is absolutely stunning — hundreds of vibrant roses with the Old Mission as a backdrop and the mountains beyond. It’s one of the most picturesque and peaceful spots in the city. The open grassy areas make it perfect for a picnic, photos, or just relaxing in the sun. The blooms are spectacular in spring and early summer, and the view alone is worth the stop. Easy street parking and close to downtown make it an easy detour. A must-visit if you love gardens, photography, or just need a calm escape. Peaceful, colorful, and perfectly Santa Barbara.
